Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, reaffirmed India’s commitment to self-reliance and sustainable growth while addressing the 56th EEPC India National Awards. Emphasizing the importance of Swadeshi and Atmanirbhar Bharat, he said domestic innovation and manufacturing would strengthen India’s financial security and reduce dependence on imports.
Highlighting India’s progress, Shri Goyal noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country has risen from the “fragile five” to the top five global economies, recording 7.8% GDP growth in the last quarter. He underlined India’s global standing as a trusted partner, committed to the principle of “Zero Defect, Zero Effect” and ranked among the top three worldwide in sustainability efforts.
He added that recent GST reforms and rate cuts will boost domestic demand, income, and jobs. Stressing equitable growth, he urged businesses to pass on benefits to consumers, ensuring inclusive development.
