Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the new Kota Airport through a video address, marking a major step toward improving connectivity and accelerating development in Rajasthan’s Hadoti region.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister said the project brings new hope and opportunities for the districts of Kota, Bundi, Baran, and Jhalawar. The modern airport, to be built at an estimated cost of around ₹1,500 crore, is expected to significantly enhance transportation, trade, and tourism in the region.
Airport Project to Accelerate Regional Growth
Highlighting the importance of the project, Modi stated that the new airport will give fresh momentum to economic and industrial growth in the region. Once operational, the facility will make travel more convenient for residents and businesses, while also boosting trade activities across Kota and surrounding districts.
He noted that people currently have to travel to cities like Jaipur or Jodhpur for flights, and the new airport will greatly reduce travel difficulties while opening new opportunities for investment and business expansion.
Strengthening Connectivity in Kota
The Prime Minister emphasized that Kota is rapidly advancing in terms of connectivity and infrastructure. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the city’s two major railway stations are being upgraded with modern facilities to improve passenger experience.
He also highlighted the impact of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, which passes through Kota and Bundi, creating new economic opportunities and strengthening the region’s connectivity with major cities.
Tourism, Industry and Local Products to Benefit
Modi described Kota as a unique hub known for education, energy production, and cultural heritage. He mentioned that the region produces electricity through nuclear, coal, gas, and hydro sources, while also being known for products such as Kota Doria sarees, Kota stone, and Bundi’s Basmati rice.
With improved air connectivity, the Prime Minister said the region’s tourism potential will also expand. Religious sites, scenic destinations, and wildlife areas such as Mukundara Hills are expected to attract more visitors, benefiting local businesses and creating employment opportunities for the youth.
Aviation Growth Across India
The Prime Minister noted that India’s aviation sector has expanded significantly in recent years, with the number of airports increasing from about 70 in 2014 to more than 160 today. He expressed confidence that the new Kota Airport will play a similar role in accelerating development in the Hadoti region.
Concluding his remarks, Modi said improved infrastructure and strong coordination between central and state governments are key to achieving faster progress and building a developed India.
