Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan today launched the farmers’ digital companion ‘Bharat Vistaar’ in Jaipur, describing it as a major step toward building a smarter and more empowered farming community.
The initiative is designed to provide farmers with easy access to essential agricultural information through a single phone call on their mobile devices. The platform aims to make farmers information-rich and technologically enabled, strengthening their decision-making capabilities.
Digital Push to Transform Rural Agriculture
Addressing the gathering, the Minister termed the launch a historic milestone in ushering a digital revolution in the agriculture sector. He said the platform will offer crop-specific scientific advisories, real-time mandi prices, and weather updates to help farmers plan better and improve productivity.
He emphasized that extending the vision of Digital India to rural India is critical for increasing farmers’ income. According to him, integrating agriculture with allied sectors such as animal husbandry—supported by technology—will play a vital role in boosting overall rural prosperity.
Rajasthan Government Backs Farmers’ Digital Revolution
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma described the initiative as the beginning of a new farmers’ revolution and encouraged farmers to fully utilize the digital platform for their benefit.
Speaking at the programme held at the State Institute of Agricultural Management, Durgapura, Rajasthan’s Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena said the integrated platform will deliver comprehensive agricultural services and information to farmers in their own language.
The ‘Bharat Vistaar’ platform is expected to strengthen last-mile connectivity, ensure timely dissemination of information, and enhance the overall efficiency of the agricultural ecosystem.
