NBC Opens Its Fourth Plant At Savli In Gujarat
National Engineering Industries Ltd (NBC Bearings) has evolved from a leading bearing manufacturer in Indian market to a world-class and reliable source for OEMs in Europe and NAFTA region. Company’s vision is to become $1 billion company by 2020 which is more than fourfold to its existing worth. To convert this vision into reality, the business has to scale up in the ever changing environment along with the increasing customer aspirations.
Established in the year 1946, NEI is currently at the cusp of a transformation –from a traditional bearing supplier to the one meeting most demanding needs globally. Its global presence across world’s leading brands in various geographies has made it a preferred choice amongst customers offering a balance between technology and cost of ownership. NEI’s export revenue is beating all major players in India and ranking first among highest achievers.
With a clear view on the growth potential in overseas markets with roughly 95% outside India, Indian bearing manufacturing giant has embarked on an expansion trajectory and NEI’s Gujarat plant is an effort in this direction.
This greenfield plant (located near Savli, Vadodara) is riding on an investment of about Rs 500 crore. In the first phase, NBC will invest about Rs 300 crore at the Vadodara plant after which almost 50% of the total capacity will be available. In expectation of an upswing in demand, company has decided to advance setting up the plant with an annual capacity of 35-40 million bearings within the next one-and- half to two years.
Since Gujarat happens to an upcoming hub for automobile and component manufactures, NEI made a clever choice to be located closer to its customers. Besides this, proximity to Mundra port would help overseas customers to reduce the turnaround time and improve productivity.
Savli plant is conceived on a green footing and is conceptualized and constructed to achieve IGBC platinum certification rating. IGBC and USGBC offer LEED rating programme for commercial buildings and green factory programmes.
In this plant several features have been included which are eco-friendly such as rain water harvesting, rooftop solar photovoltaic panels, VRF air conditioning, insulated PUF panels for roof, high solar reflective (SRI) top coating, LED lights, sewage treatment plant, native plants to consume less water, autoclave aerated blocks for energy efficiency and recycled fly ash and low VOC paints.
